Dog Rescue Groups
If you have checked out our Bio Page, you will see that all our five dogs have been rescued. We are strong believers in giving dogs a second chance and have found that they always make the best family members and companions. Below we have compiled a list of Dog Rescue Groups and Shelters in South Florida that we have visited or met with at South Florida Pet Events.
Please consider these organizations when looking for our first or your next dog. We know that we will!
Big Dog Ranch Rescue is a unique no-kill dog rescue situated on 28 acres in Wellington, Florida. The mission of Big Dog Ranch Rescue is to provide shelter, care and affection to homeless dogs of all breeds and adopt them out into loving homes. We are excited to work with them to promote the safety and well-being of these great animals.
Dezzy’s Second Chance is located in the Boca Raton/Delray area and provides homeless dogs and cats in Palm Beach and Broward County with the opportunity to find a new loving home.
Suncoast Basset Rescue, located in Gainsville Fl., is a not-for-profit, volunteer effort that rescues Basset Hounds from abusive, abandoned and unwanted situations just for the love of the breed. They pride themselves in giving Bassets a second chance by joining great dogs with loving families.
Grateful Paws is a not-for-profit – 501(c)(3) – No-Kill dog and cat rescue organization located in Fort Lauderdale serving South Florida. They rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats and work very hard to place them in loving homes.
Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, located in Deerfield Beach, Florida, is a non-profit organization dedicated to placing Labrador Retrievers in loving permanent homes. Their organization is comprised of hardworking volunteers and vets that are committed to placing labs in new homes. They have been working together since 2000 and have rescued over 5000 dogs.
Dachshund Rescue South Florida is located in Weston Florida and serves the South Florida community. All their dogs stay in foster homes while in their care to help them learn the dog’s personality to help find the best forever home for them. All their dogs will come to their new families fully vetted – spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, and checked out by a vet.
Boxer Friends, Inc. was established in 2000 and is a 501(c)3 non profit Florida charitable organization. They are located in Fort Lauderdale and focus on the needy Boxers in Broward. Miami-Dade, and south Palm Beach Counties. They are comprised 100% of volunteers devoted to helping pure breed Boxers in need in the south Florida area. They rescue Boxers from shelters in South Florida before they are euthanized and help displaced Boxers find new, loving, appropriate and permanent homes.
Dogs Rule Rescue Group is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Organization in South Florida. Their mission is finding loving, forever homes for those who would otherwise be euthanized, and educate the public on the importance of Spay and Neuter.
Coastal Poodle Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. They are 100% volunteer-run, and they “poodle” in their spare time. they concentrate their activities in the eastern, coastal corridor of Florida from Duval to Dade County. Because of their proven commitment to the poodles in their care, they enjoy an excellent reputation with the vets and groomers who work with them.
Shepherd Help And Rescue Effort, Inc. works to rescue German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes from the Miami-Dade area, especially from the Miami-Dade Animal Services, a high kill shelter. Most of the dogs rescued are on their last day before being put to sleep. These dogs are often rescued right from the euthanasia room.
Abandoned Pet Rescue is Fort Lauderdale’s largest no-kill Animal Shelter. They are located at 1137 NE 9th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304. Their phone number is (954) 728-9010. You can visit them every day between noon and 5PM. They care for over 300 animals looking for loving families at their facility.
Everglades Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc. of Florida is dedicated to providing veterinary care, comprehensive evaluation, and quality adoptive homes for Golden Retrievers who are abandoned, mistreated, neglected or left at Animal Control facilities throughout Southern Florida from Vero Beach to Key West. Rescue services are also provided to Goldens in acute need of placement due to compelling family circumstances.
Gulfstream GUARDIAN ANGELS Rottweiler Rescue helps finds loving families for Rottweilers looking for new homes in South Florida. They are an all volunteer organization working in the local community.
Everglades Abandoned Dog Rescue’s mission is to end the suffering of thousands of abandoned pet dogs, feral and breeding packs of dogs, by physical rescue, from rural and remote areas of Florida. They are located in South Florida and supported by many local dog lovers and canine organizations.
Boston Terrier Rescue of Florida, Inc. is a non-profit organization Rescue Organization located in Delray Beach, Florida serving all of South Florida. They are dedicated to finding responsible homes for Boston Terriers, who are now homeless for various reasons. Their goal is to promote public awareness regarding their plight, and to provide medical care whenever it is needed.
100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida is located in Broward County serving all of South Florida. Their mission is to rescue them, bring them back to health, and show them that not all humans are bad, and that love and a warm bed are just around the corner. Beyond that, they work to raise awareness about this brutal reality happening right in our community, with the hope that their message will result in alternative solutions and more responsible and humane decisions by pet owners.
A Second Chance Rescue’s mission is devotion to saving pregnant and nursing dogs, cats and their offspring, keeping them in safe, healthy foster environments until they are adopted by loving forever families, while promoting animal welfare and the prevention of homeless animals by means of spay/neuter education and working toward the goal of a euthanasia-free community. They are located in Palm Beach County serving South Florida.
Rising Star Rottweiler Rescue, Inc. was founded as a Not for Profit organization for the sole purpose of rescuing, retraining, and relocating Rottweilers that have been “thrown away” for a variety of reasons by their owners. They rescue Rottweilers from shelters and owners who no longer what to keep them. As part of the process, they provide each dog with any veterinary treatment the dog may require. They are located in Lake Worth, Florida serving all of South Florida.
Destiny for Dogs is dedicated to assisting Seniors to keeping their dogs in their homes. They help Seniors wanting to keep their dogs by providing needed food and veterinary care, short term foster care, planning to ensure the dog is cared for in the event the Senior can no longer provide the support, plus more. They also are active in pet rescue and placement. They are located in Palm Beach County supporting South Florida.
RU4Me Pet Rescue is a local, all volunteer and all foster, “no-kill” rescue group, saving the lives of homeless and abandoned dogs and cats in the greater Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Lake Worth, Lantana, and West Palm Beach areas.
All for One Pet Rescue is a team of volunteers dedicated to the rescue of adoptable animals at risk of euthanasia, with a focus on quality care, community education, and to act as a voice to improve the quality of life for all animals. They are located in Palm Beach County serving South Florida.
Animal Rescue Force of South Florida, Inc., Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization devoted to saving homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from high-kill shelters and elsewhere. All of their animals are kept in loving foster homes to ensure that they are well socialized and to help with an easy transition to a new home. They are located in Palm Beach County serving South Florida.
Compassionate Pug Rescue in South Florida is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer run pug rescue organization based in South Florida. CPR accepts all pugs and occasionally other dogs on the brink of being put to sleep regardless of their condition, nurses them back to health and finds them a loving forever home.
Tri-County Animal Rescue is a no-kill, nonprofit animal shelter working to prevent the killing of over 170,000 unwanted pets in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties each year. Since their inception, they have saved over 50,000 domestic animals from being euthanized, placing them in homes through their adoption center. They also work with several organizations, businesses, and the local school district to educate the community on animal awareness.
GimmeShelter Animal Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 Florida Corporation helping animals in distress and keeping them in a home environment with love and care with a focus on rehabilitation and quality placement in a forever home. Their dream has always been a world with no unwanted pets. Knowing that’s an impossible dream, they set their sights instead on a shelter with no cages, no prisons, no bars. The animals brought to GimmeShelter are raised in a home environment. Each adoption is special and a reason for celebration.
Elite Greyhound Adoptions, Inc. is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to finding responsible and caring homes for retired racers and other Greyhounds in need. Greyhounds can “retire” as early as a year old but most do so between 2 and 5 years. With a life expectancy of 12 to 14 years you can well expect to share a long and happy time with your ex- racer. It is the mission of Elite Greyhound Adoptions to find “forever” homes for a broad spectrum of Greyhounds. They are located in South Florida.
Coastal Boxer Rescue of Florida, Inc. is a not for profit organization dedicated to rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected boxers and securing them forever homes. They are located in West Melbourne, Florida and support adoptions efforts across the state.
Gaisha, Tundra, and Spirit’s Place is a Rescue Organization for Siberian Huskies located in Jupiter, Florida. Their team of dedicated volunteers will travel anywhere in the United States to rescue death row Huskies from high kill shelters. They bring them to Florida to be cared for and adopted.
A Better Life Pet Rescue deals with small dogs that have been abandoned, abused, neglected, or no longer wanted. They work with each dog to provide them with the proper behavior to be good family pets while nursing them back to health. They socialize the dogs and work with them to minimize any trauma they might have experienced through abandonment. Every dog just wants to be loved and their goal is to make that happen.
